Beach Holiday

The above images copyright to:-

Foam tipped breakers, sparkling seas,
Seagulls soaring on the breeze
Calling out to fishing men
Throw some scraps to us again

Children screaming in delight
Scattering crabs in onward flight
Down the beach on tiny feet
Pausing where the waters meet

Parents watch them wading there,
Aged people pause to stare
Memories of their children dear
Running in their swimming gear

Teenage boys in strutting band
Throw their ball from hand to hand
Watch the girl as they pass by
Hoping each they’ll catch her eye

Girls there sunning on the beach
Suntan oil within their reach
Giggling as the boys pass near
Close to lifeguard, have no fear

Life boat racing out to save,
Lone surf boarder on a wave,
Jet Ski’s ride a speed boat’s wake
Trying each to overtake

Sun beams down lethargic rays
On these happy holidays,
Bureau says there’ll be no rain
Back tomorrow, fun again.

  1. A very nice poem depicting a fun day at the beach. I have never been to a beach in all my 70+ years. Have regretted not going as I have lived very near one in the past. Hugs

    1. Ths surprising thing is if you live near a beach as you get older you visit less. But fortunately we get a lot of visitors and as they always want to go swimming we get to accompany them and enjoy the beach. There’s something awe inspiring as you look out at the ocean with its various moods, Sometimes the ocean is sunny and calm, and sometimes it is angry and threatening. We prefer to watch the latter mood on TV. lol.
